Monitor 4 is a compact, general purpose radioactivity survey meters capable of detecting alpha, beta, gamma, and x-rays over 3 selectable ranges. The switchable operating range is an especially nice feature if you are dealing with low levels of radioactivity - you can set it to the most sensitive operating range so the meter is easier to read, i.e. the needle will "jump" that much farther for the same level of radioactivity.
A red count light flashes and a beep sounds with each event detected. Large nedle gauge readout reports both mR/hr and CPM. Uses a halogen quenched uncompensated Geiger Mueller tube with a thin mica window. Detects alpha down to 2.5 MeV, 80+% efficiency at 3.6 MeV. Detects beta at 50 keV with 35% efficiency, and 150 keV with 75% efficiency. Detects gamma and X-ray down to 10 keV. Range of 0.02 - 50 mR/hr. Single 9-volt alkaline battery lasts up to 2,000 hrs at normal background. Built-in battery check.
